Sheriff: Woman assaulted deputy

OXFORD TWP. — A Monroeville woman is facing four charges after an incident in Oxford Township earlier this month. Nicolle M. McKenzie, 44, of the 3400 block of Mason Road, is facing one second-degree felony count of burglary and one fourth-degree felony count of assault on a peace officer. She is additionally charged with two misdemeanors: resisting arrest and violating a protection order. At 5 p.m. on March 15, deputies were called to an Oxford Township home for the report of a woman violating a protection order, according to an Erie County Sheriff's Office report. When deputies arrived, one spoke with the alleged victim outside of the home, and one spoke with McKenzie, who had entered the home and locked the door, the report states. The victim told deputies they believed McKenzie was in possession of a knife. McKenzie allegedly said she just wanted to leave and was not going back to jail, according to the report. The victim let deputies into the garage. From there, they entered the home and approached McKenzie at the front door. One deputy ordered McKenzie to the ground at Taser-point. The other deputy drew their firearm, according to the report. Deputies unlocked the front door to allow a third deputy into the home. While attempting to take control of McKenzie, she allegedly kicked at a deputy and head-butted a deputy in the ballistic vest. Deputies got McKenzie against a wall and she then slid down into a ball. She reportedly tensed up, and deputies had to give her several commands to comply or they would use a stun gun on her. McKenzie was then able to be handcuffed and was transported to Erie County Jail, the report states. As of late Thursday, she is still incarcerated there under a $50,000 bond. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on Friday in Erie County Municipal Court.
