PREP ROUNDUP: Port Clinton softball clobbers Columbian

PORT CLINTON — The Port Clinton softball team scored eight runs in the sixth inning to run-rule Tiffin Columbian 16-6 in Sandusky Bay Conference crossover action. The Redskins (2-1) scored in all six innings they batted in, pushing their streak to runs in 11 of the last 12 innings they have hit in. Bella Belden singled, drove in two and scored twice for Port Clinton. Alexis Miller added a single, run batted in and three runs while Micaela Wiechman tallied two singles and three runs. Gabby Howard added a double and RBI. Marissa Frohne picked up the win in the circle, allowing six runs (four earned) on nine hits. She struck out 10. Reagan Mooney lined a home run and single while scoring three times and driving in three runs for Norwalk (1-2). Maddie Gamble had a triple, two singles, three runs and three RBI while Scarlet Schneider singled, doubled, drove in four and scored three times. Audryn Ott and Alexis Dellisanti each had two singles, two RBI and three runs and Saige Viock tallied two singles and three runs. New Riegel won 21 games last year and took home the River Division championship. Kaylee Summers and Izabell Sartor each singled for Sandusky (0-1). The Blue Streaks found it tough sailing against all-Ohio pitcher Karsyn Piper, who didn't walk a batter and struck out 12. Summers nearly matched her pitch-for-pitch, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits in six innings. She also didn't walk anyone and recorded seven strikeouts. St. Paul (0-1) trailed 5-0 entering the fourth inning, but scored three times. Calvert (1-0) answered with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to regain control. Ella Kalizewski doubled and drove in a run for St. Paul while Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush doubled and scored.
