Margaretta's Washington named first-team all-Ohio

COLUMBUS — The 2026 Divisions IV, V, VI and VII boys basketball All-Ohio teams were announced Wednesday by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association. The All-Ohio teams are based on nominations from the seven districts of the OPSMA from regular-season accomplishments. Margaretta senior Julian Washington was honored as a first-team selection in Division V. The University of Dayton signee averaged 23.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists a night for the Polar Bears (23-4), who won their third straight district title this season. Washington, who finished with 2,025 career points, helped Margaretta to a 71-10 record over the past three seasons. Teammate Judah Keller was a special mention pick after contributing 12 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game for the Polar Bears. Perkins' Kellen Glass was a third-team selection in Division IV. The senior averaged 13.4 points and 5.9 rebounds a night for the Pirates (25-3), who advanced to the state semifinals for the first time in program history. Teammate Sam Schweinfurth was a honorable mention pick in Division IV. Schweinfurth contributed 10 points and 6 rebounds per game. A pair of Bellevue juniors were honorable mention selections in Sam Bollinger and Ike Brown. For the Redmen (13-10), Bollinger registered 12.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists a contest while Brown added 12.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per night. Clyde senior Oscar Webb and Port Clinton sophomore Grayson Jones were also honorable mention picks in Division IV. Webb scored 13.7 points a night for the Fliers (10-13) while Jones tallied 12.9 points and 5.7 assists per contest for the Redskins (14-9). Edison seniors Cole Leimeister and Coltyn Meagrow and Huron senior Quentin Conway were each named honorable mention in Division V. Leimeister averaged 20.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists a contest for the Chargers (11-13). He finished with 1,023 career points and is the program record holder for career three-pointers. Meagrow put up 18.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this season for Edison. Conway tallied 15.9 points and 5 rebounds a night for the Tigers (10-14). Two area players were on the Division VII special mention list, including Monroeville senior Cole Perry. He averaged 12.8 points and 10 rebounds per game during the regular season to help the Eagles (18-6) to the Firelands Conference title for the first time in 42 years. St. Paul senior guard Landon Fries was also special mention. He averaged 17.6 points per game for the Flyers (12-11). Monroeville senior Maverick Myers was honorable mention. He led the Eagles in scoring at 14.3 points per game and also added 4.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest. St. Mary Central Catholic senior Cayden Wikel was also honorable mention. Wikel paced SMCC (19-5) at 13.4 points and 4.5 rebounds a night. Mr. Basketball finalist Gator Nichols from Zanesville Maysville was the Player of the Year in Division IV. The senior scored 24.2 points per game for the Panthers, who won the Division IV state title in 2024-2025 and finished as state semifinalists this season. Evan Callihan from Circleville was Coach of the Year. The Tigers finished 23-3, losing in a regional final to Maysville. Mr. Basketball finalist Jason Singleton from Columbus Academy was the Player of the Year in Division V. The 6-4 guard and Harvard University commit led his team to consecutive state championship games, where it fell both times to Cleveland Heights Lutheran East. Singleton averaged 21.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.7 steals per game while shooting 51 percent from the field (31 from 3-point range with 40 made) for CA (24-5). A four-year starter with over 1,400 career points, Singleton has helped the Vikings to a 95-14 record during that span. There were two Coach of the Year winners in Black River's Kyle Dack and Ironton's Drew Stevens. Dack guided the Pirates to their first winning season in 17 years, and just the fourth in 58 years while winning a tournament game for the first time in 16 years. The team's 14 wins were tied for the most in a season since 1965, which was done with four sophomores and a freshman among the top seven players in the game rotation. In his first year at Ironton, Stevens helped Ironton to a 23-2 record and a 45-42 loss to West Muskingum in a regional championship game. Ironton won its first Ohio Valley Conference title and reached the regional round for the first time in 11 years. For the second straight year, New Madison Tri-Village star Trey Sagester was the Player of the Year in Division VI. The 6-3 guard averaged 25.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.6 steals per game this season in lead his team to a 26-1 record and regional runner-up trophy. Tri-Village won four straight district titles with Sagester, who was also a Mr. Basketball finalist. The Patriots won 95 games during his four seasons, which saw Sagester score 2,081 career points. Coach of the Year honors went to Portsmouth West's Caleb McClanahan. West (19-7) shared the Southern Ohio Conference III championship and won a district championship for the first time since 1985. Division VII Player of the Year honors again went to Delphos St. John's senior Cameron Elwer, who was also runner-up for a second straight year for the Mr. Basketball award. With 2,768 points, Elwer finished sixth all-time in OHSAA history in career points. The NCAA Div. I Furman University commit averaged 29.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game and led the Blue Jays to the state championship with a 29-0 record. Montpelier's Nick Ramos was the division's Coach of the Year. He took the Locomotives from 3-20 in 2022 to 7-13 and 11-12 the next two years before a 17-6 mark last season. This winter, the Locos won their first sectional title since 1978, followed by the program's first district title in 80 years. Montpelier then knocked off Arlington for the first-ever regional win before closing at 24-3 with a loss to Kalida in a regional title game.
