PREP ROUNDUP: Perkins softball moves to 3-0

BROOKSIDE — The Perkins softball team had a pair of six-run innings during Tuesday's 18-4 non-league road win over Brookside. The Pirates (3-0) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after one inning, then added six more runs in the sixth inning to end the game via run-rule. Aubrey Ransom and Natalie Martin each had massive days at the plate for Perkins. Ransom had three singles and a double while driving in four runs and scoring three times. Martin added a home run, two singles, four RBI and two runs scored. Allie Brunner added three singles, two runs and a RBI while Quanise Rogers tripled, drove in a run and scored twice for the Pirates. Maddie Rinkes (RBI) singled twice and scored three times and Maycee Bohn had two singles and a RBI. Bohn was the winning pitcher in the circle. The Chieftains jumped on Margaretta (2-0) with two runs in the first inning, but the Polar Bears tied the game after three innings then scored three runs in the fourth inning to seize control. Cassidy Lane continued her impressive start to the season. She registered two singles, a double, two RBI and a run scored while picking up the win in the circle. She went six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and five walks while striking out 12. Kenadee Lesch pitched the seventh inning, allowing two unearned runs on two hits. At the plate, Lucy Edwards had two singles and two runs scored, Ellaynah Schaefer added two singles, two RBI and a run scored and Lesch had two singles and a run. Monroeville (2-0) led just 2-1 after three innings before adding two runs in the fourth inning. Payton Weilnau had a triple, two singles, three runs batted in and two runs for the Eagles. Lilly Clark added three singles and three RBI, McKenna Payton doubled, drive in four runs and scored twice and Alayna Tyler singled twice and scored twice. Madison Reiber doubled and scored twice and Rachel Fries doubled and scored for Monroeville. Taylor Scheid was the winning pitcher, allowing one run (earned) on two hits and three walks. Edison (1-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Lady Red (0-1) tied the game at 4 during the third inning. Peyton Taylor had a double, triple, two runs batted in and a run scored for the Chargers. Natalie Desautels singled, doubled and scored twice, Abby Cloud contributed a double, triple and RBI and Stella Brown singled twice and added two RBI. Cloud picked up the win in the circle, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and six walks. She struck out four. Mallory Hay had two doubles and two RBI for Bellevue while Ryleigh Knutti lined three singles and a RBI. Hay took the loss, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits. She had five strikeouts. Frohne gave up four runs (one earned) on nine hits and one walk. Jae Mazur tallied a triple, single and run scored for Port Clinton (1-1) while Gabby Howard had a single, double, two runs batted in and a run scored. Alaina Seisler contributed three singles, two RBI and a run for the Redskins while Alexis Miller singled and drove in two runs. Kyla Buchman added a double, two RBI and two runs. Clyde (1-0) scored four runs in the sixth inning to get within 7-5. The Fliers scored six runs in the seventh to go ahead 11-7 before fending off the Little Giants (0-1). Teaghan Smith had a double, two singles, three runs batted in and two runs scored for Clyde. Mya Stiefel (RBI) added four singles and two runs scored while Ember Andres (run) contributed three singles. Amber Dillingham doubled and drove in three runs for the Fliers while Addi Caudill singled, tripled, scored three runs and drove in a run. Dillingham threw the final three innings for Clyde to pick up the win. She allowed two runs (both earned) on four hits. Dillingham came on in relief for Madison Myers, who gave up seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits in the first four innings.
