7 local No Kings protests planned

NORWALK — Firelands Indivisible, a local political action committee, is planning six No Kings protests across Erie and Huron counties on Saturday as part of a broader day of demonstrations. All events are scheduled from noon. to 2 p.m. in Vermilion, Wakeman, Milan, Norwalk, Bellevue and Huron, according to organizers. Kate Rivet, founder of Firelands Indivisible and a local historian, said the demonstrations are occurring in multiple communities to expand visibility and reach residents who may not typically encounter public protests. Past events have often taken place along Milan Road (U.S. 250) near the Sandusky Mall. This time, organizers said they wanted to spread out across the region so more people would see the demonstrations and have the opportunity to participate locally. They'll occur in public spaces: • Bellevue — Kilbourne (Ohio 18) and Main (U.S. 20) streets • Huron — in front of Huron Commerce Plaza • Milan — Village Square • Norwalk — in front of the Huron County Courthouse • Vermilion — Exchange Park • Wakeman — Community Park A separate group, Sandusky Indivisible, is hosting another protest in Perkins Township. It's happening from 1-4 p.m. along Milan Road (U.S. 250). Organizers said that even if turnout varies by location, hosting demonstrations in multiple communities could broaden the overall impact. Additionally, organizers also stressed how the protests will remain peaceful. Members are committed to peaceful and respectful community action through the democratic process, organizers said.
