Turinsky, Lane named first-team All-Ohio

COLUMBUS — The 2026 Divisions IV, V, VI and VII girls basketball All-Ohio teams were announced Monday by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association. The All-Ohio teams are based on nominations from the seven districts of the OPSMA from regular-season accomplishments. Bellevue senior Kaitlyn Turinsky and Margaretta senior Cassidy Lane were each named first-team All-Ohio. Turinsky, a Division IV selection, helped guide the Lady Red to a 29-1 record this season. Bellevue finished state runner-up to Laurel, who had senior Tristan Williams picked as Player of the Year. The Lady Red were 92-13 in Turinsky's four years of school. Turinsky, who totaled 12.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest this season, finished her career with over 1,000 career points and became the program's leader in career rebounds this season. Lane was a first-team pick in Division VI. Margaretta went 26-2 this year, advancing to the state semifinals. Lane helped the Polar Bears win district titles each of the last four seasons, scoring 14 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest this year. Clyde junior Taitum Jeffrey was a second-team selection in Division IV. Despite missing the final three weeks of the season, Jeffrey averaged 17.3 points per game. The Fliers improved their win total from 11 to 14 this season. Bellevue freshman Ava Jakubcin-Theis was named special mention All-Ohio. She was a starter this season for the Lady Red, averaging a team-high 13.2 points a night. Bellevue junior point guard Ellie Freitag was named honorable mention in Division IV. The straw that stirs the drink, Freitag has helped the Lady Red going 57-2 over the last two years that included a state championship last season. Freitag averaged 7.5 points and 5.2 assists per game. Edison senior Ella Booth was a honorable mention pick in Division V. She averaged 10.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game for the Chargers. Margaretta senior Ellyse Schaefer was a honorable mention selection in Division VI. The guard contributed 9.8 points per game and made 60 3-pointers this year for the Polar Bears. St. Mary Central Catholic's Reid Didion was honorable mention in Division VII. The freshman averaged 14.1 points per game for the Panthers, who went from one win in 2024-2025 to 11 wins and a district final appearance this past season. Williams helped Laurel (22-4) win the Division IV state championship after finishing runner-up in 2024 and state semifinalists in 2025. The UNLV commit scored just over 22 points a game. Circleville coach Josh Blakeman was Coach of the Year. The Tigers went 23-5, losing to Bellevue in a state semifinal. Blakeman was hired just days before the season started. Ms. Basketball finalist Karysn Erford from Ottawa-Glandorf was the Player of the Year in Division V. The NCAA Div. II University of Findlay commit led the Titans to the state title game this past season afer averaging 18.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. O-G finished with a 28-1 record. The four-time All-Ohioan is the program's all-time points leader. The Titans went 100-9 with her in the lineup with four Western Buckeye League and four district championship trophies during that time. London Madison-Plains coach Nathan Warner was Coach of the Year. He guided his team to a 23-1 record and a district runner-up finish this season, including a 16-0 mark in the Ohio Heritage Conference. Ottawa Hills sophomore Kendell Skiver, who helped the Green Bears edge New London, in overtime of a district title game, was the Div. VI Player of the Year. Skiver averaged 26.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 4.7 steals per contest. The two-time TAAC player of the year reached 1,000 points in 44th career game this season. Coach of the Year was shared by Johnstown Northridge's Bill Mitchin and Pleasant Hill Newton's Stefanie Landis. Mitchin led the Vikings to a program-record 17 wins and reached the district title game for the first time in history this season. Landis guided the Indians to an 18-5 record while playing in the Western Ohio Athletic Conference. North Baltimore sophomore Lacie Allison was named Player of the Year in Division VII. She helped the Tigers go 21-4, falling in a district title game. Allison averaged 34.2 points and 11.6 rebounds a game this season. She has already scored 1,438 points in her career. Mike Bashore from Russia was named Coach of the Year. The Raiders were 25-4 and finished state runners-up in Division VII. The girls basketball All-Ohio teams for Divisions I, II and III will be announced Tuesday. The boys basketball All-Ohio teams will be announced Wednesday and Thursday.
