What to do about racism?

Racism can be unlearned. In 2026, we want to believe racism doesn't exist while some white people are screaming, "Reverse Racism." Indeed, lynchings in the street are no longer seen, nor are front-yard cross burnings prevalent. That being said, we all still have some prejudices. Saying, "I don't see color," is racist. Not challenging racist jokes is racist. Saying, "You are so articulate," to people of color is racist. So what can we do about it? Maya Angelou said, "We do the best we can with what we know and when we know better, we do better." Most of us aren't overtly racist; we may even be very cognizant of any biased thoughts and actively work to change them. We are doing the best we can with what we know. Continuing to learn is a great way to do better. Great Lakes Good Trouble is hosting an anti-racism training presented by Sondra Light of Hunny Bee Healthcare Inc. and the Sandusky Chapter of the NAACP.
