Ramp closures impact Vermilion-area exits

VERMILION TWP. — Construction work along Ohio 2 spanning through Vermilion Township just got underway. But drivers will not see ramp closures right away. During a recent public meeting, township trustees shared details about how an overall repaving project should continue through October. The project involves milling and repaving several miles of Ohio 2, which is expected to take several months to complete before crews move into ramp work later in the summer. While work has begun, closures at the Ohio 2 and Ohio 60 interchange are scheduled for a specific window later in the project. Ramp closures will rotate one at a time at the Ohio 60 interchange. Ramp closures are set to begin Aug. 4 and will continue in phases through mid-September. Officials said the closures will be done one ramp at a time with each phase lasting anywhere from three to seven days. Crews will reopen each ramp before moving on to the next, avoiding a full shutdown of the interchange. The closure schedule is as follows: • Ramp A (westbound entrance) — Aug. 4 • Ramp B/B1 (westbound exits) — Aug. 8 • Ramp C/C1 (eastbound entrance) — Aug. 24; It will reopen for Labor Day traffic, then closes again Sept. 8. • Ramp D (westbound exit from Sandusky) – Sept. 12 Drivers should expect changing access to Ohio 2 throughout the project and are encouraged to plan ahead as closures rotate through the interchange.
