Heidelberg choir to perform in Sandusky

SANDUSKY — The Heidelberg Concert Choir will be in concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Avenue. The concert is being provided by the Sandusky Concert Association. Admission is free. There will be a freewill offering for contributions to benefit the choir. The Heidelberg University Chamber Singers will also be performing, according to an announcement on the university's website. Expect an excellent performance that draws from the choral music literature, said Ron Albert, talent coordinator for the Sandusky Concert Association. "It's going to be a beautiful concert," Albert said. "They are excited to come to Sandusky again." Because the Sandusky State Theatre remains closed, the Sandusky Concert Association has had to find other venues for its shows. But Zion Lutheran Church is probably a better venue, anyway, for a choir concert, Albert said. "For a choir, the acoustics are better at a church setting than they would be for a theater setting," Albert said. The Heidelberg Concert Choir, open to all Heidelberg students, regardless of major, performs more than 15 concerts a year. The choir has announced that it will go on a tour of Germany with the Heidelberg University Symphonic Band.
