UPDATE: Body in field ID'd

Update: 2:50 p.m. PERKINS TWP. — Perkins police identified the body found in the township on Thursday morning. Just before 8 a.m., first responders were called to the 3000 block of E. Perkins Ave. for the report of a dead body in a field. On Thursday afternoon, the man was identified as Craig Dawes, 66, of Hinde Avenue. He was found on the north side of East Perkins Avenue. While officers were at the scene, Dawes' family reported him missing, according to a Perkins police press release. No cause of death was released pending an autopsy that will be performed by the Lucas County Coroner's Office. "On behalf of the department, I extend my condolences to the Dawes family during this difficult time," Perkins police Chief Jeff Musser said. "Our officers remain committed to investigating this incident thoroughly and completely." East Perkins Avenue was closed between East Bayview Lane and Galloway Road for about three hours.
