Readers say God won't help

God's not going to help a Willard man stay with his family, some readers said, responding swiftly — and in some cases mockingly — after a news story published Saturday about his planned deportation happens Tuesday. After church on Friday, Jesus Lara Lopez gathers three of his kids, Edwin, 11, Anuar, 9, and Elsiy, 6, to get a ride back to their Willard home. "Tick...tock...tick...tock...," one reader, apparently void of any compassion for Jesus Lara Lopez's predicament, or for his young children, posted.Another commenter at sanduskyregister.com quoted the Bible, and Jesus Christ."'Well, then,' (Christ) said, 'give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.' His reply completely amazed them. Mark 12:17."But one woman had another perspective. "I am a former teacher of three of his four children," Nicole Tallman wrote. "He actually came on a work permit/green card paper. Very nice hard working family ... I pray for the best for them." Other readers posted comments supporting the family, but many who responded wrote using campaign slogans from 2016. Others seemed angry, calling Jesus Lara Lopez "a common criminal" and telling him to take his children with him when he goes back to Mexico. They can all "move to his home country," Laura Van Possum wrote. Lara Lopez is scheduled to be on a plane Tuesday morning unless he gets a reprieve from immigration agents, Congress or the Homeland Security secretary.
