Future of Social Security and Medicare isn't looking pretty

In June 2025 NPR reported, "Social Security Benefits Face Big Cuts in 2033, Unless Congress Acts." For the last year and a half, Serving Our Seniors has tried to convene a public forum with our federal representatives to discuss the work our federal legislators are doing to preserve Social Security and Medicare. Projections indicate that as of 2033, there will be enough money to pay out 77% of what retirees are scheduled to receive. According to the Social Security Administration, "A Summary of the 2025 Annual Reports" Social Security and Medicare Boards of Trustees, (ssa.gov/oact/trsum/) The Hospital Insurance (HI) Trust Fund (aka Medicare) will be able to pay 100 percent of total scheduled benefits until 2033, three years earlier than reported last year. At that point, that fund's reserves will become depleted and continuing program income will be sufficient to pay 89 percent of total scheduled benefits. To "inspire" our federal legislators to confront the older Americans they represent in federal government, Serving Our Seniors is seeking your help.
