Students figure out finance careers

SANDUSKY — This past week, through the Greater Sandusky Partnership, about 80 local students participated in a career camp. Participating high school students — those from Perkins, Sandusky, St. Mary Central Catholic, Townsend, Huron and Edison — gained insight into many careers in finance, such as banking, public finance, government operations and community-based financial services. The day featured lessons, tours and speakers from: • Ohio Means Jobs' Erie County's office • Firelands Federal Credit Union • Civista Bank • Sandusky's government • VacationLand Federal Credit Union • The Erie County treasurer's office. "We are grateful to be a part of a strong Erie County Business Advisory Council, powered by North Point Educational Service Center, the Greater Sandusky Partnership and several local business partners and schools," according to a partnership statement. The council proposes, plans and fuels these experiences for students where they can gain exposure and experience in various industries across the region. "Thank you for your participation and dedication to career exposure," the statement read.
