Man turning 100 years old

James L. Morris will turn 100 on March 8, 2026. Jim celebrated his milestone birthday with his wife Betty, family and friends — they shared wonderful memories and all who attended were honored to spend the day with Jim. Jim served in World War II as a radioman in the Pacific theater aboard the USS Pathfinder. His small ship survived a kamikaze attack. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Jim attended Ohio University where he met the love of his life, Betty. They married Dec. 2, 1950, and moved to Perkins Township in 1953. Together they raised their family, Kym, 71; and Beth, 74. Both Betty and Jim were involved with their community: she a school teacher at Perkins, and Jim volunteered in many activities. One of his favorites was being part of the "chain gang" in the 1970s for the Perkins High School football games. He was inducted into the Perkins Hall of Fame for Distinguished Service in 2008. Jim was the Nabisco salesman in the Sandusky area. He earned many awards for high sales. If you bought a Nabisco cookie between 1953 and 1988, Jim put it on the shelf. Jim was asked what his secret is to enjoying a good long life: "Eat blueberries every day and surround yourself with loving family and friends."
