Hear the symphony rock out

HURON TWP. — The Firelands Symphony Orchestra is turning up the volume with "Symphony Rocks," a high-energy pops concert. It's scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron. Under the direction of music director and conductor Carl Topilow, the orchestra will trade in traditional classical fare for an electrifying fusion of symphonic power and legendary rock 'n' roll. Featuring guest vocalists Lauren Berry, Natalie Green and Connor Bogart O'Brien, this dynamic program — created by The Cleveland Pops Orchestra — celebrates iconic hits from the 1950s through the 2000s in a thrilling orchestral setting. "Symphony Rocks" reimagines some of the most beloved songs in rock history with the full force of the live orchestra and three guest vocalists. Audiences will experience: • The iconic energy of "Cleveland Rocks," made famous by The Presidents of the United States of America • The anthemic "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," popularized by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts • The timeless "Respect," immortalized by Aretha Franklin The program also features a rousing Billy Joel medley, a powerhouse tribute to Queen, as well as the classic "Pinball Wizard" by The Who. Classic rock favorites continue with: • "Hotel California" by the Eagles • A vibrant ABBA set, including "Mamma Mia," "Dancing Queen" and "Waterloo" Audiences will also hear: • "What's Love Got to Do with It" by Tina Turner • "Hey Jude" by The Beatles • Early rock staples "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley & His Comets, "Jailhouse Rock" by Elvis Presley and "C'mon Everybody" by Eddie Cochran. In addition to classic rock, the concert also features chart-topping pop hits over the years.
