Dock of the Bay Marina lands new manager

SANDUSKY — Dock of the Bay Marina anchored a new manager.Rock Farlow recently assumed the position of harbor master at the boating facility in downtown Sandusky, abutting the Murray & Murray law firm.Many know Farlow as the football coach when the Perkins Pirates won a state championship in 1999. He's now retired from Margaretta Schools, where Farlow taught and coached.Farlow, a long-time boater, used to dock his boat at the marina. Farlow met Harry Lombard, the previous manager, while docking at the marina. Lombard introduced him to the position.After hearing of Farlow's retirement, Lombard asked if he wanted the job.Farlow said he found himself at the right place at the right time and believes he's fitting into his new job swimmingly."The most refreshing change from teaching is that my schedule isn't controlled by someone else," Farlow said. "It's more family oriented, and I like that."Farlow now cares for the 170-dock marina with the help of Charlie Flohr, who is teaching him the ropes. Flohr worked alongside Lombard for many years and is continuing his run with Farlow.Farlow plans on making himself as available to new and returning boaters as possible. He plans on making sure boaters know his availability, and that they are as content as possible.
