Sandusky woman found dead in Baltimore

SANDUSKY — Authorities on Thursday discovered the dead body of a 2016 Sandusky Central Catholic School graduate, who was known as a terrific runner and even better person.The circumstances surrounding Abigail Bastien's death are unknown at this time.Abigail Bastien, 19, was found dead Thursday in Baltimore. She was a 2016 Sandusky Central Catholic Schools graduate who was a prominent track star.Baltimore police Detective Jeremy Silbert couldn't provide any immediate information about the cause or manner of death."We are still investigating," Silbert, a police spokesman, told the Baltimore Sun.Abigail Bastien with her mother, Kelly Ebert Legando. Bastien, 19, was a 2016 Sandusky Central Catholic Schools graduate who was a prominent track star.Just before 8 a.m., police officers found Bastien's body outside on a street.Bastien, 19, who's from Sandusky, attended Johns Hopkins University and was a rising sophomore in the Krieger School.She was working in the university's cell biology department at the school of medicine. She also belonged to the school's Alpha Phi sorority and ran as a sprinter on the college's track and field team. So heartbroken by her loss and by the loss that her family is experiencing."Sandusky police Sgt. Kevin Youskievicz, who coached Bastien when she ran on the St. Mary Central Catholic track team, described her as a selfless and caring individual."She was a person with a heart of gold and was all about everyone first and putting herself second," said Youskievicz, who recalls Bastien always rooting on her teammates, even when she was injured.
