A reason to cheer

Editor's note: People representing Castalia-based Champion All-Stars recapped a recent cheerleading competition children belonging to the organization participated in.CASTALIA — The 2015-16 Champion All-Stars season was a huge success.Our competitive cheerleading gym just went through our 10th season with success and growth. This past year, we traveled with seven teams, aging from 4 to 18 years old.This past season, we set a goal and accomplished it: We were invited to a private national competition called the D2 Summit in Tampa Bay, Fla. We set out to take all four eligible teams to this prestigious event and qualified all four teams.From earning this title back in October, we prepared at local competitions until the D2 summit at the end of April took place. This competition is packed with some of the best teams in the county.During that time, we won the U.S. Finals Championship title.This past weekend at the D2 Summit, there were 48 states and 580 teams at this invitational event. We brought back one participation team, two third places and one team winning the championship title.This is a huge accomplishment to bring back to our home state of Ohio and small town of Castalia.We are excited to keep our tradition going into season 11: Team placements for the 2016-17 season will begin during the last two weeks of this month.Anyone can attend a meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12, located at our main location, 5505 Tiffin Ave., Castalia, OH, 44824.
