Meet Valravn, if you dare

SANDUSKYCedar Point goes Hollywood.The midway will be decked out, complete with red carpet, cameras and paparazzi (No fear of ending up in a tabloid, they're just Cedar Point employees taking photos) when Valravn debuts next weekend."This is the world's tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster — this thing is massive," said Kristy Bacni, communications manager.The dive coaster slowly carries people 223 feet up in the air, building anticipation.Riders are suspended at the top with nothing in front of them for four seconds, waiting for the moment of release."Once Valravn lets you go, you go down at a 90 degree angle at 75 miles per hour. It's really cool," Bacni said.Following the drop, riders quickly enter the second-tallest inversion in the world (Fun fact: GateKeeper has the tallest inversion in the world) before they enter the second dive from 131 feet. When riders are pulled out of that dive, it's only to be thrust into an immediate dive loop, followed by a 270 degree roll."That is a nice pop of air time," Bacni said.The celebration will take place May 7 and 8.Special opportunities for the first guests include getting to try Valravn food — Tofts ice cream in salted caramel fudge truffle flavor, and access to the new soda flavor, FlavaRavn Fizz. They also can try the new Dippin' Dots flavor Cookie Crown Crunch and the new Brew Kettle Red IPA Valravn Brew.Cedar Point's street team, a group of associates, will be walking around upgrading guests to a VIP experience, which Bacni said aims to give guests the best-of-the-best experience."It's shop like a king, eat like a king and game like a king," Bacni said.And since it is the king of all coasters, Cedar Point has tied it in to Lebron James Family FoundationThe Valravn First Rider Benefit gives riders the opportunity to come into the park from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday, May 5. $75 gives a rider general admission onto Valravn. Front row admission, at $500, guarantees riders first to ride in the front row of Valravn.
