PREP ROUNDUP: Bellevue wins sectional, advances 13

CLYDE — Bellevue advanced 13 wrestlers to next week's district wrestling tournament and scored 273 points to win a Division II sectional Saturday at Clyde High School. The Redmen had four sectional champions in Thomas Reesman (113 pounds), Owen Sterritt (138), Ben Jacobs (150) and Billy Sberna (165). Nolan Hoffman (120), Landen Lewis (126), Ethan Jacobs (132), Kolt Lewis (157), Tatum Gore (190) and Noah Green (215) all finished second for Bellevue. Clyde, which finished second with 186 points, had five sectional champs in Heath Norris (120), Hunter Pollack (126), Wyatt Keegan (132), Michael Gessner (144) and Mason Holden (157). The Div. II district tournament is next Friday and Saturday at Norwalk. The top four wrestlers in each weight class advanced to the district level. Perkins gets 3 champs at Galion GALION — Perkins finished second at the Div. II sectional in Galion and had three individual champions. Braxden Martin (150), Law Davlin (165) and DeShawn Harper (215) finished first in their respective weight classes. The Pirates scored 207 points, finishing one-half point behind team champion Clear Fork. Norwalk was seventh (93.5) and Vermilion placed eighth (82.5). Jaycion Everett (138), Boden Ballinger (190) and Jordan Pool (285) each placed second for Perkins. Aldynn Metzger (126) and Gavin Lepley (165) finished second for Norwalk. Edison takes 1st at Plymouth PLYMOUTH — Edison had two individual champions and won the team title with 191.5 in a Division III sectional. The Chargers scored 191.5 points. Seneca East was second (156) and Western Reserve finished third (152). Edison's Cohen Reer finished first at 106 and the Chargers' Brayden Barker won the 120-pound weight class. St. Paul also had two champions in Zeke Dvorak (150) and Rafael Gross (165). Monroeville also had a pair of champions in Owen Patchen (132) and Brycen Dunlap (285). Edison's runners-up were Xander Gfell-King (132), Josiah Walbom (157) and Joel Smith (285). 4 area champs at Oak Harbor OAK HARBOR — Four area wrestlers won titles at the Division III sectional at Oak Harbor High School. St. Mary Central Catholic's Benny Byington (132) and Ben James (150) won individual championships for the Panthers. Port Clinton's Malakii Pinkelton won the 190-pound title and Margaretta's Fernando Gonzales finished first at 285. PC's Cole Bishop (120) and Gavin Cornell (150) each placed second, as did Huron's Sam Cox (165). Woodmore won the team title with 227 points. PC placed fifth with 146.5. Six area girls win titles CLYDE — Six area girls won sectional titles Friday. Vermilion had three champions at Clyde High School in Cora Frederick (125), Alyssa Woodward (135) and Emily Stiner (140). Clyde had two champs in Avery Gaskalla (105) and Meredith Greenslade (120). Port Clinton's Michaela Stork finished first at 190. Rollison champ for Sandusky FINDLAY — Britoriah Rollison finished as sectional champion for the Blue Streaks on Sunday. Avaiya Cunningham and Mia Thompson added second-place finishes for Sandusky. GIRLS BOWLING Lizzi 4th at state bowling COLUMBUS — Perkins senior Olivia Lizzi closed out her high school career by finishing fourth at the Division II state bowling tournament. Lizzi, who will compete collegiately for Wichita State, rolled games of 215, 169 and 224 for a 608 series at H.P. Lanes. Coldwater's Brittany Burden finished first with a 640 and led the Cavaliers to the team championship. BOYS BOWLING Headley, Lewis finish at state COLUMBUS — The boys bowling season came to an end Friday as Margaretta's Phinneus Headley and Edison's Hayden Lewis competed at the Division II boys state tournament at H.P. Lanes. Headley finished 25th overall. The sophomore rolled games of 197, 167 and 225 for a 589 series. Lewis was 36th for the Chargers. The senior had games of 185, 200 and 174 for a 559 series. Brooklyn's Adam Cowper was the individual champion with a 729. St. Henry won the team title, defeating Coldwater in a best-of-5 baker game series, 3-2.
