4 recognized for life-saving actions

BELLEVUE — Bellevue Schools' board of education on Thursday recognized four individuals "for their courageous and selfless actions" during a recent medical emergency at a middle school basketball game. "John Bollinger, principal of Bellevue Middle School, along with spectators Christina Hill, JoEllen Street and Rob Street responded swiftly and decisively," according to a district statement, which didn't get into specifics of the medical emergency or who it affected. Yet "Their calm demeanor, quick thinking and willingness to step forward in a critical moment played an instrumental role in saving a life," the statement read. Stakeholders representing Bellevue Schools and the community at large extended their "deepest gratitude and appreciation to these individuals," according to the statement. "Their actions exemplify leadership, compassion and the very best of what it means to care for one another," it added. "Moments like these remind us that our school community is built not only on academics and athletics but on humanity, courage and heart."
