Dancing event supports advocates for children

FREMONT — CASA of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties will present its 14th-annual Sandusky County Stars Dancing for CASA fundraiser, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 at Terra State Community College, Building C, 2830 Napoleon Road, Fremont. CASA, short for court-appointed special advocate, is a national organization with local chapters that trains people to become volunteer advocates for children. This year's participants in the dancing contest are: • Sara Webert, owner of RoseLee Crystals and Pearls and dispatcher for the Oak Harbor Police Department • Travis Brown, a local U.S. Postal Service mail carrier • Jamey Wilkins, public relations coordinator at Great Lakes Community Action Partnership • Melissa Gerber, realtor for Wendt Key Team Realty and universal banker at Old Fort Banking Co. "They are being instructed by dance instructors from the talented Ballroom Co.," according to an event statement. It's patterned after the popular television show "Dancing with the Stars." Here's how it works, as the statement explains: • "Local celebrities are being teamed up with professional or experienced dancers." • "Each couple will present their dance routine at the event." • "Guests will then be given the opportunity to vote for the celebrity dancer of their choice." • "Each dollar donation counts for one vote." • "The dancer receiving the most votes will be declared the winner of the People's Choice Award." All proceeds benefit the local CASA program. Tickets are $45 each, and people can call 419-355-1442 or visit the CASA office in Fremont, 219 S.
