Danbury cop arrested for alleged drinking and driving

Read more news from Danbury Township. DANBURY TWP. — A Danbury Township police officer was charged Saturday for allegedly driving while intoxicated. Bradford K. LaMarca was cited with operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to control, according to a report on file with the Ohio State Highway Patrol."We're disappointed that this incident occurred," Danbury police Chief Mike Meisler said. "We're thankful no one was hurt."An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper was called out to a crash on East Tanglewood Drive at about 11:30 p.m.The trooper found a gray Ford Explorer off the side of the road against a bush. It appeared the vehicle drove through two properties before making its final stop, the report stated. The trooper found LaMarca asleep in the driver's seat with loud music emitting from the car. After knocking on the window a few times, LaMarca woke up and opened the door. The trooper noted an alcoholic odor was present in the vehicle. LaMarca climbed out of his car and the two walked back to the trooper's cruiser.When asked, LaMarca told the officer he did not consume any alcohol. From there, LaMarca refused to look at the trooper and would not respond to his name or answer any questions, according to the report. LaMarca also refused to take a breath test and was cited and released to a valid driver. A nearby resident told the trooper he watched LaMarca's vehicle go off the road and into the bush. The witness provided a statement and said LaMarca's vehicle was parked on the road for a short while before it rolled off the street and into the plant. Meisler said LaMarca, a nine-year veteran with the department, has not returned to work since the incident, but that he is still listed as an employee.
