Port Clinton students compete

Port Clinton students competed Thursday for the right to move on to the Ottawa County Spelling Bee on Feb. 9 at the Port Clinton Performing Arts Center.Eighteen students, which included six from each grade level at the middle school, were chosen to participate. The participants included Isabella Craig, Taylor Householder, Jesse Black, Samantha Vollmer, Ben Lucas, Elliot Auxter, Omar Lucero, Mandi Koehl, Dylan Smothers, Austin Helton, Anastacia Dobek-Wilson, Annabelle Barna, Carli Laurel, Lucas Kyle, Gavin Preston, Matthew Grimm, Mark Phillips and Nathan Nellett.Students were eliminated with words such as collude, udon, anorak, migraine. The final elimination word was cylindrical.The names of the winners who will move forward to the Ottawa County Spelling Bee are: first place Isabella Craig, second place Taylor Householder and third place Jesse Black.
