Bowling Bonanza a boatload of fun

VERMILION — Families gathered at Lake Erie Lanes on Sunday afternoon for the Vermilion Bowling Bonanza, a free afternoon of bowling for kids 17 and under hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Vermilion. Organizers said more than 90 children attended. The event included free bowling and shoe rentals, along with pizza, drinks and prize giveaways. Organizers also gave away eight free 2026 season passes for the Vermilion Community Pool and the city's splash pad, along with other donated tickets. "It's simply a chance for kids to get out of the house, be active, and have a great afternoon together," said Jacqui Adkins, vice president of the Kiwanis Club of Vermilion. She said making the event free helps ensure "every child can feel welcome and included, regardless of circumstances." Lake Erie Lanes donated the bowling and shoes. Sponsors listed on the event flyer included Superior Practice Management, Cleveland Stone, Homeworks General Contracting Inc., German's Villa and Main Street Threads. The Bowling Bonanza closed out with a steady flow of families on the lanes and kids continuing to bowl, eat and take part in the giveaways.
