PERKINS • Perkins High School was recently named to the 2025 Advanced Placement AP School Honor Roll. The college board announced the honor roll to highlight schools with AP programs. There are four levels of distinction, including bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Perkins High School is one of 5,700 schools that earned a bronze award. The Class of 2025 either met or exceeded benchmarks required to earn a bronze: — 48% of seniors took at least one AP exam — 32% earned a score of 3 or higher on an AP exam — 5% completed five or more AP exams, including at least one taken in ninth or tenth grade PORT CLINTON • Port Clinton Middle School students were selected to participate with other area students in the Ohio Music Educators Association District 2 Middle School Honor Orchestra and Choir. Storee Bennett, Ava Chaffin, Jasmine Eliyas, Asa Gatliff, Hailey Goff, Jaclyn Gressman, Mason Marvicsin, Kenleigh Mazur, Mila Miller, Brynn Schenko, Lacey Shiffert and Ashlyn Wierzba performed at Tiffin Middle School over the weekend. • Port Clinton Schools' Teresa Fillmore was named Outstanding Elementary Teacher at BGSU. The recognition came from the Coalition of Rural and Small Schools. BERLIN HEIGHTS KIWANIS • Berlin Heights Kiwanis sponsored Edison High School's speech and debate team, which will send four students to the state tournament in Youngstown. The following will compete for state honors: — Ilah Reynolds in Humorous Interpretation — Jaylah Weaver in Congressional Debate — Elizabeth Butler, second alternate in program interpretation and qualifying in senatorial debate — Austin Warren in congressional debate NORWALK CATHOLIC and PERKINS • Local mock trial teams competed in the 2026 Ohio Center for Law Education District Competition. At the district level, competitions were hosted by 25 courthouses across the state. In Huron County, the competition featured two teams from St. Paul High School, two teams from Sandusky Central Catholic High School, two from Perkins High School, one from Edison High School and one from Lake Ridge Academy. Teams from St. Paul, Perkins and Lake Ridge advanced to regionals on Feb. 20. NORWALK CATHOLIC • St. Paul High School announced Everett Beal and Lucy Dolce as the February 2026 Kiwanis Students of the Month. Beal's activities and achievements: ACE Academic Award, National Honor Society, golf, track, SPH Climbing Club and Trap Shooting Club. Dolce's activities and achievements: National Honor Society, mock trial, class officer, Academic ACE Award, culture trip, ROX Club, Model UN Competition Team, Model UN Club, prom committee, yearbook photo editor and golf. EDISON • Edison Middle School announced its Charger P.R.I.D.E. Students of the Week. These students were recognized for their positive attitudes, strong character and commitment to excellence: — Fourth grade: Jenna Gullion, Evelyn Leckey, Niklaus Kovar and Jordan Rogers - Fifth grade: Annabelle Miller, Lucy Henley, Georgia Bragg and Mathius Koch - Sixth grade: Naylen Watson, Camden Barker, Henry Hamilton and Victoria Pachasa - Seventh grade: Emma Kowalski, Lexi Henley, Ava Miller and Clinton Beatty - Eighth grade: Jason Seel, Greysen Yamanouchi, Autumn Brock and Adam Donahue DANBURY • Danbury Schools announced its 2025-26 honorees for the Danbury Core Value of kndness." This year's honorees are: — Penny Orshoski, second grade — Ayleigh Richards, sixth grade — Braden Ritz, 10th grade — Rachel Lill, intervention specialist BELLEVUE • Bellevue's kindergarten celebrated the 100th day of school.
