EHOVE shouts-out school resource officers

MILAN TWP. — Sunday marked National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. Occurring annually, this day "encourages schools and communities to take time on Feb. 15 of every year to let their school resource officers know how much they appreciate the work these officers do," according to a statement from the National Association of School Resource Officers. Locally, to commemorate this day, EHOVE Career Center recognized its two school resource officers: Erie County sheriff's deputies Jesse Leon and Jerome Tyson. The career center wrote a summary about each deputy: • "Deputy Leon brings 11 years of law enforcement experience and is in his first year at EHOVE after previously serving as (a school resource officer) at North Point Alternative Learning Center. An EHOVE High School criminal justice alumnus, Class of 2012, he understands firsthand what makes this campus special. As he shares, he enjoys getting to know students and being part of the EHOVE community." • "With six years in law enforcement and two years at EHOVE, Deputy Tyson says the most rewarding part of being a (school resource officer) is helping students overcome challenges and reshape how they view law enforcement." "We're grateful for the way they build relationships, support our students and strengthen our school community every single day," the career center wrote.
