Business advisory council recognizes Danica Davis

OAK HARBOR — The Ottawa County Business Advisory Council recently named its newest student of the month, Danica Davis, who recently stepped in to help out with the Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce. The council and its workforce hub connect students with local employers, career exploration opportunities and hands-on experiences that help bridge the gap between school and the workforce. "Programs like this give Ottawa County students the chance to build skills, gain confidence and explore career paths while still in school," according to a council statement. Regarding Davis, she's a student in the Ottawa County Hospitality & Tourism Academy and also attends the Benton-Carroll-Salem Schools. During the summer months, people can find Davis working at the Jet Express. Davis said she's inspired by her mom, who has taught her valuable event-planning lessons, including experience with the Apple Festival. She wants to earn her captain's license and continue working in the local area. "We're grateful to the Ottawa County Business Advisory Council for recognizing Danica and for supporting programs that invest in our students and our local workforce," the statement read.
