Fremont man pleads guilty in child rape case

FREMONT — A Fremont man accused of raping a child recently pleaded guilty in his criminal case. At a court hearing on Feb. 3, Tylan C. Wright, 22, of the 1600 block of Dickinson St., withdrew his former not guilty plea and pleaded guilty to one count of rape, a first-degree felony. Wright pleaded guilty to the single charge of rape in exchange for one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony, to be dismissed. Wright is scheduled to be sentenced at 2:30 p.m. on March 30. Due to Wright's guilty plea, he could potentially be sentenced to a minimum prison term of 11 years and a maximum term of 16-and-a-half years, according to court documents. Background The investigation into Wright began on May 27, 2025, when Fremont police arrested him and booked him into the Sandusky County Jail on one count of rape, a first-degree felony, and one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony. Wright was indicted by a Sandusky County grand jury a month later on the same charges, with the crimes having occurred the day before his arrest, according to his indictment. Wright engaged in "sexual conduct" with a child under the age of 16 "by force or threat of force."
