2 indicted for violating immigration laws

SANDUSKY — A federal grand jury recently returned indictments for two men who were arrested in Sandusky County and Ottawa County by the U.S. Border Patrol's Sandusky Bay Station and Immigration and Customs Enforcement for possessing fraudulent documents. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio noted that the two cases are separate and are not related, according to a news release from the U.S. Northern District Court of Ohio. The two men who were indicted for possessing fraudulent documents are: • Jimy Antonio Portillo-Ramirez, 23, a citizen of Honduras, was found on Jan. 6 in Vickery, Sandusky County. • Jose Alfredo Reyes-Gonzalez, 33, a citizen of Mexico, was found on Jan. 18 in Oak Harbor, Ottawa County. Additionally, the following three men were charged with illegal re-entry into the U.S. • Marcos Bardales-Lopez, 26, a citizen of Honduras, was found on Jan. 12 in Maumee, Lucas County. He was previously removed from the U.S. on at least one occasion with the most recent being Dec. 6, 2019. • Rigoberto Gómez-Arguijo, 45, a citizen of Honduras, was found on Jan. 8 in Marion, Marion County. He was previously removed from the U.S. on at least one occasion with the most recent being Oct. 28, 2010. • Oscar Mendoza, 52, a citizen of Honduras, was found on Jan. 12 in Maumee, Lucas County. He was previously removed from the U.S. on at least one occasion with the most recent being Jan. 17, 2008. All five cases are part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative launched by the U.S. Department of Justice to address illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and combat violent crime.
