Mikayla Salmons named newest Beacon of Light

SANDUSKY — Firelands Health recently announced Mikayla "Kayla" Salmons, a supervisor in the emergency services department, as the most recent Beacon of Light Award winner. The Firelands Beacon of Light is a program developed to recognize team members who exemplify and exhibit the values of Firelands Health in the form of exceptional attitude, commitment and enthusiasm, shortened to "ace" by company executives. The award goes to individuals who "ace" it every day for patients and co-workers, executives said. Salmons' nomination shows her dedication. "Kayla is a role model for a positive attitude, which is contagious to staff. She educates with positivity. She helps pick the team up on hard days. She is a great example of a leader," the nomination read. "Kayla shows up for the team. She is always available to help and stays late as needed. When others complain, she instead looks for solutions." She's worked at Firelands since 2008. Outside of work, she enjoys: • Spending time with family and friends • Worshipping at The Chapel and participating in church events, like Night to Shine • Helping with 4-H activities • Playing games • Raising chickens, which she recently started
