BERLIN HEIGHTS KIWANIS • Edison's speech and debate team members were recognized for their performance at a recent tournament. Students at the high school and middle school competed against 500 other students in the state. Among some standout performers: Jaylah Weaver placed fourth in the congressional debate while Ilah Reynolds took home fifth place honors in humorous interpretation. The high school team will travel to Laurel Schools for the state qualifying tournaments. EDISON • Edison High School's cheerleaders will compete in a state competition. The team competed at the regional level and earned a spot in the state championship for game day and traditional routines. EHOVE • Three EHOVE Career Center criminal justice students — Isabella Burson from Monroeville High School, Leeland Ramsey from Norwalk High School and Alaina Klima from Danbury High School — completed SkillsUSA Regional Officer Training. SANDUSKY CENTRAL CATHOLIC SCHOOL • Gabe Burch and Blake Finneran from Sandusky Central Catholic School earned the Academic All-Ohio 2025-26 Individual Award. This recognition is for Burch's performance in the classroom and on the football field, and Finneran was honored for his work in the classroom and playing gold. They rank in the top 0.5% of high school students in the state. • Four-year-old preschool students took a trip to the post office and rode a yellow school bus. The students wrote a letter to send in the mail and learned about the delivery system. CLYDE-GREEN SPRINGS • Clyde High School principal, Anthony Panfalone, supported the kitchen staff by putting on an apron and serving students. • McPherson Middle School shared its Student Recognition for January 2026: — Sixth-grade students of the month: Braelyn Weiker and Easton Barnes — Seventh-grade students of the month: Bo Foreman and Darcy Jones — Eighth-grade students of the month: Nick Delepine and Alessia Barrientos — Exploratory students of the month: Madden Merrill and Ava Lehsten — Club members of the month: Maylee Frey for Writing Club and Ethan Davenport for FFA — January athletes of the week: Adalynn Anstead, basketball; Mira Salazar, basketball; Ava Sours, wrestling; Walker Thomas, basketball; and Trenten Elfring, basketball WESTERN RESERVE • Western Reserve Teen Leadership Corps hosted a Teddy Bear Toss on Jan. 23. The club and New London Schools collected 130 bears for the Fisher Titus Foundation. UNITED WAY OF ERIE COUNTY • The United Way of Erie County congratulated Elijah Murria, a Sandusky High School senior, for earning a certificate in Basic Tax Preparation. BGSU FIRELANDS • Bowling Green State University Firelands students ate pizza with their dean, Allia Carter. BELLEVUE • The Bellevue Lions Club honored Bellevue Middle School's physical education and health teacher, Aaron Kowaleski, with the Bellevue Lions Saluting Education, Fostering Growth and Excellence Recognition.
