Sandusky Primary locked down

SANDUSKY — Sandusky Primary School, on Ontario Street, was put on lockdown today after a student was discovered with a BB gun. The situation was resolved without a threat to building safety and without any harm to students or staff, according to a letter sent to district families signed by school principal Eric Johnston. A student was the first to report "a suspicious item," according to the letter. District administrators responded and found what was determined to be an airsoft gun — not a real firearm — in a student's backpack. According to the letter, the quick action of school staff ensured safety was never compromised. Once the situation was resolved, the school operated as normal. "We understand that news of a lockdown can be unsettling," the letter said. "Please know that the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. Thankfully, our students have been taught to 'say something if they see something.'" In the letter, Johnston thanked the students who reported the situation.
