Museum goes all-in to celebrate nation's birthday

CLYDE — To commemorate the America 250-Ohio yearlong celebration, the Clyde Museum recently announced its special programming to help celebrate the nation's milestone anniversary. "Come and join us for fun and learning," according to a museum statement. Here's a look at some events happening at the museum — 124 W. Buckeye St., Clyde — in 2026. Excerpts are provided by the museum: • 6:30 p.m. March 17 — Clyde Memories Road Show "This will be a time for people from Clyde and surrounding communities to bring a cherished personal antique or historical item to share with the group." • 6:30 p.m. April 14 — Clyde Heritage League annual meeting "The meeting is for members of the Clyde Heritage League and is open to the public. It will be a short business meeting with annual reports and an election of trustees." • 7 p.m. April 14 — A history of Clyde and the Clyde Water Plant presented by city manager Justin LaBenne • 6:30 p.m. May 12 — War of 1812 in Northwest Ohio "In celebration of America's 250th anniversary, Larry Michaels of, Fremont, will present. He will share how this conflict is historically significant from a viewpoint of the war in northwest Ohio, particularly Fremont, Perrysburg and Lake Erie." • 6-8:30 p.m. June 19 — Concert on the Lawn: Marquis 66 "This rock 'n' roll band will return, by popular demand, to perform a night of oldies and classic rock from a bygone era." • 6:30 p.m. June 30 — George Washington and the Continental Army "An expert historian and first-person historical interpreter, Kenneth Hammontree, of Ashland, Ohio, will come (just before) the Fourth of July as George Washington and share his and his army's experiences in the Valley Forge Campaign during the American Revolution. It is sure to be an enjoyable and educational experience." • 6-8:30 p.m. July 17 — Concert on the Lawn: Jim Sleek & The Uptown Country Band "It will be a fun and relaxing evening of classic and contemporary country favorites, performed by a well-known, popular, local country music group." • 6-8:30 p.m. Aug. 14 — Concert on the Lawn: Chris Buzzelli Jazz Band "This group is returning, by popular demand, and performs some of the best jazz music that you have ever heard in live performance. You will not be disappointed. Come and join us for some great music and good food." • 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8 — Clyde Warriors "Tiffany Willey Middleton of Chicago, Illinois, will be sharing with us the history of Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Charles H. McCleary and World War II Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Rodger W. Young." Note: During 2026, their medals will be on display in the military room at the Clyde Museum. • 6-8:30 p.m. Sept. 11 — Concert on the Lawn: Gary Meadows & Mike Blody Duo "These two gentlemen will be performing the wonderful genre of American music as well as some classic country music." • 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13 — McPherson Cemetery Walking Tour — "Larry Michaels and curator Gene Smith will conduct a walking tour of the historic cemetery. This is an annual event that highlights the history of significant individuals from Clyde's history as well as state and national significance who are buried in McPherson Cemetery." • Noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 21 — Winesburg Weekend Open Houses "The annual open houses at the Clyde Museum and General McPherson House will be open for visitors to come and visit the museums. There will be live music at both locations, a Civil War artillery re-enactment group at the McPherson House and holiday goodies served at both locations as well as hot cider over an open fire at the house."
