Final Firelands Challenge match dates set

MILAN TWP. — North Point Educational Service Center announced the dates for the Firelands Challenge championship matches. The first of the three matches, hosted by the competing schools, will be at 9:50 a.m. on Thursday at Edison High School. Firelands Challenge is an academic competition for local high schools organized by North Point Educational Service Center. The students compete to answer questions from numerous academic subjects. Edison secured its spot in the championship after defeating St. Mary Central Catholic and Huron in the playoff round on Jan. 21. The team is going into this last set of matches gunning for its 14th consecutive season championship. Before the playoff round, Norwalk and Port Clinton Schools scored enough points in their matches to compete in the final matches. Here is a list of the competition dates: • 9:50 a.m. Thursday at Edison High School • 10 a.m. Feb. 10 at Port Clinton High School • 9:30 a.m. Feb. 18 at Norwalk High School A winner is determined by taking the cumulative scores after all three matches are finished. A sudden-death tiebreaker will take place if there is a draw. The matches are open to the public.
