PERKINS TWP. — Do you want to volunteer but are not sure where to start? Skip the guesswork and join us at Work Space Sandusky — 1521 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky — for speed volunteering: a dynamic way to connect local nonprofits with community members looking to give back. Similar to speed networking, this event will allow potential volunteers to engage in brief, timed conversations with a list of organizations, discovering meaningful ways to get involved and make a difference. "It's an efficient, engaging way to create new community connections and support the local causes that keep our region thriving," said Kara Groff, owner of Work Space and president of Groff Family Services. Attendees can expect more than 15 area organizations to set up around Work Space at booth-like stations. Everyone will rotate around the building to hear from each organization, for up to 3 minutes of conversation, as the Work Space team sets off the timer. Participating organizations, in no particular order, include: • Girl Scouts of North East Ohio • Stein Hospice • Goodwill Industries of Erie, Huron, Ottawa and Sandusky Counties • Shoreline Pride Sandusky • Serving Our Seniors • Firelands Historical Society • Huron County Reach Our Youth • Erie Conservation District • Erie County Family & Children First Council • Erie County Agricultural Society • Leadership Erie County • Humane Society of Erie County • Care & Share of Erie County • Russell Bouchard Addiction Recovery Fund • Erie County Senior Center • Huron County Veterans Council • Ability Works • Project Noelle • Friends of Sandusky Greenhouse • Shores & Islands Ohio • Firelands Community Cat Coalition • Sandusky Recreation The event has reached its participating organization capacity. Any interested organization should contact jessie@grofffamilyservices.com to join the waitlist. Community members planning to attend should arrive on time and be prepared to stay for the duration of the event. It's scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Work Space Sandusky: Registration and networking goes from 5-5:30 p.m. with a prompt programming start at 5:30 p.m. Registration can be completed at this link: workspacesandusky.com/speed-volunteering-registration. Each attendee will start at a specific table with several other attendees, depending on attendance, and make their way around the tables as the timer goes off.
