4th person arrested on warrant for theft

NORWALK — A fourth woman was arrested on a warrant earlier this month for allegedly stealing money from a person in a protected class. On Jan. 7, deputies from the Huron County Sheriff's Office arrested Nicole M. Robertson, 38, and booked her into the Huron County Jail on two counts of theft from a person in a protected class and one count of forgery, all fifth-degree felonies. Nicole Robertson: • Was first indicted by a Huron County grand jury on those charges in May 2025 with the crimes allegedly occurring between June 2023 and February 2024 • Was indicted alongside her husband, father and mother-in-law • Allegedly cashed four checks worth $958 without the victim's permission The victim in the case is listed in all four indictments as a then-65-year-old man who is a "disabled adult, active duty service member or spouse of an active duty service member," according to court records. It was her initial arrest in the case since being indicted last spring, according to court records. As of Tuesday afternoon, Nicole Robertson was released from jail on a $10,000 bond and has an upcoming court hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. on Feb. 23, according to court records. Status of other cases On July 28, 2025, Nicole Robertson's husband, Clyde R. Robertson Jr., 37, also of Butler, Ohio, in Richland County, pleaded guilty to one count of theft from a person in a protected class, a fifth-degree felony. Robertson Jr. pleaded guilty to the one count on the same day in exchange for one additional count of the same charge to be dismissed. Huron County Common Pleas Court Judge James Conway sentenced Robertson Jr. to serve approximately three months in the Huron County Jail and three years of probation, according to court records. Under the terms of his sentencing, Robertson Jr. is required to pay $300 in restitution to the victim, according to court records. Nicole Robertson's father and mother-in-law, Clyde R. Robertson Sr., 65, and Christy L. Robertson, 64, both of the first block of Countryside Drive, Greenwich, have an upcoming court hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on Jan. 27. Background The allegations stem from a complaint made in May 2024 to Greenwich police that the suspects were allegedly taking advantage of a man living inside their home. The complainants said the victim moved in with the Robertsons because he did not want to live alone after undergoing a surgical procedure the year prior. The victim's credit card was allegedly used without his permission, and his bank account was also allegedly accessed by the suspects, according to a Greenwich police report. In total, financial records obtained by police showed that about $18,500 in allegedly unauthorized transactions were made from the victim's bank and credit accounts, the report states. Another $11,000 in charges were made from an Apple Pay account that was linked to the victim's Discover Card.
