BGSU's Scott Miller picked by Tampa Bay in 6th round

Bowling Green wide receiver Scott Miller was one of five Mid-American Conference players taken in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.Miller, who caught 71 passes for 1,148 yards and nine touchdowns last season, was chosen by Tampa Bay with the 208th overall pick. He is the first BG player picked in the draft since Chris Jones in 2013."I am beyond grateful to BGSU for giving me the opportunity to play at the Division I level when no one else would," said Miller, who had one FBS offer — from Bowling Green. "I have grown so much as a player at Bowling Green. I couldn't have done it without my coaches and teammates along the way."I still have a lot of work to do and a huge chip on my shoulder."Miller, who is from suburban Chicago, finished his BGSU career with 215 catches and 2,867 receiving yards, totals that rank third in school history. The speedy 5-foot-11, 166-pound receiver caught 13 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns against Oregon in the Falcons' opener last season.The All-MAC performer was not invited to the NFL combine but no doubt piqued the interest of NFL teams after running a 4.32-second 40-yard dash (hand-timed) at BGSU's pro day last month.Toledo cornerback Ka'dar Hollman went to Green Bay in the sixth round (185th overall pick) on Saturday.Hollman came to Toledo as a walk-on before earning a scholarship and becoming a three-year starter at cornerback."I never stopped believing in myself," said Hollman in a news release issued by the University of Toledo. "I thought about my goal of playing in the NFL all the time. It's what motivated me, kept me going. I always knew I could play if I was given the opportunity."Hollman said he is excited to undertake the next challenge in his life."It''s a new chapter in my life and I'm ready to take it head on," he said. "I'm prepared to work to become a better football player and a better man."Hollman had 114 career tackles, two interceptions and 27 pass breakups. As a senior, he had a career-best 43 tackles and tied for the MAC lead with 12 pass breakups.Hollman was the second Rocket to be taken in this year's draft and the sixth to be drafted in the past three years. Former teammate Diontae Johnson, a wide receiver, was chosen in the third round by Pittsburgh.Nine MAC players were selected in the draft. The first player from the conference to hear his name called was Central Michigan cornerback Sean Bunting, who was taken in the second round (39 overall) by Tampa Bay.Scott Miler was drafted in the sixth round Saturday, becoming the first Bowling Green player selected in the NFL draft since 2012.
