TOLEDO — Just over 12 hours removed from a win over Bellevue, the Sandusky boys basketball team made it two wins in a row with a 65-53 road win over Toledo Whitmer on Saturday. The Blue Streaks (8-6) led 21-13 after one quarter. Sandusky added a 34-26 edge in the second half to get two games over .500 for the first time this season. Cam Jones scored 21 points to lead the Streaks. Dale Johnson added 15 points while Kymirr Hunter tallied 11 points. The school record was 99 points entering last week, but Clyde (6-7) scored 107 in last Tuesday's win over Toledo Scott. After losing to Columbian on Friday, the Fliers hit the century mark against the Redmen (1-10). JeCori Roberts led Clyde with 26 points. Vermilion finished with 106 points. Oregon Clay won the team championship with 125 points while Norwalk (79 points) was third, Sandusky (75) was fourth, Danbury (20) was sixth, Edison (13) was seventh, Huron (7) was ninth and St. Paul (5) was 10th. Rini took home victories in the 200 individual medley (2:11.10) and 100 breaststroke (1:04.03). He was part of the 200 medley relay team with Caleb Drost, Joe Schaub and Sean Rini that won in a time of 1:53.34. The Norwalk quartet of Canyon Craig, Anthony Hall, Lincoln Snyder and Braydan Weinert were second in the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:56.86. Vermilion's Drost took second in the 200 free (2:04.09) and 100 backstroke (1:01.74). Norwalk's Snyder finished runner-up in the 100 butterfly (1:00.92) and Sandusky's Logan VanScoy was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.95). Sam Milas won the 500 free for Sandusky, touching the wall in 5:44.48. Edison's Jacoby Valimont was first in the 100 butterfly in 58.40 seconds. Milas, VanScoy, Terrence Carrasco and Maxwell Meagrow were second in the 400 free relay (3:46.76). St. Paul's girls team was runner to Columbian. The Tornadoes won the team title with 169 points while St. Paul had 96 points. Sandusky (75 points) was third, Norwalk (62) was fourth, Danbury and Huron (25) tied for sixth and Vermilion (9) was ninth. Elaina Coriell won the 100 backstroke for the Flyers in 1:07.72. She also swam with Kennedie Frazee, Jocelyn Welter and Sarah Gocsik to win the 200 free relay in a time of 1:54.99. The same quartet took second in the 200 medley relay, touching in 2:10.21, almost six seconds behind Columbian. Huron freshman Andrea Lesnak was second in the 200 free (2:27.09). Welter added a second-place finish in the 100 free (1:03.13) while Sandusky's Kamryn Schonhardt was second in the 500 free (6:37.95). Norwalk's quartet of Saige Konik, Allison Rothhaar, Kylah Daniels and Raena Ringenberg was second in the 200 free relay (2:02.77). Danbury's Ellie Colon took second in the 100 backstroke (1:15.44). Also for the Truckers, Daniels, Sofia Stahl, Ringenberg and Rothhaar were second in the 400 free relay (4:38.05). Sandusky finished with 95.5 points while Elmwood was second at 80 points. Perkins tied for 11th with 20.5 points. Willow Evans, Eygpt Stockett and Miracle Jones all finished third for the Streaks while Amorah Roldan, Tia Stewart and Savannah Palmer each took fourth.
