Reader not happy about data centers

Data centers are massive concrete complexes owned by billionaires with no connection to the communities to which they negatively impact. Many small communities are ill equipped to protect themselves from the assault of polluting, energy hungry, and inflationary increases in utilities, water costs. In many cases job losses may ensue (this will be explained later). The owners operative secretively due to outdated regulatory laws. Artificial intelligence is the motor driving these complexes and the wealth transferred to already billionaires leaves our community empty. The negative impacts on our health, finances, real estate is incalculable: • Pollution of streams, groundwater, and aquifers • Habitat loss: degradation due to heated expelled wastewater in grounds, streams may kill off birds, the worms they feed on, will affect fisheries and then jobs. • Job losses: Yes they promised you a lie! The scale must be balanced. The data centers per the public domain provide 37 to 40 jobs long term, that is all that is required. The economic impact on the communities result in marked increases in the cost of utilities, sewer, water. This increases the costs for small businesses and family businesses and layoffs likely will result. • Noise pollution: More bad news. Noise, low humming vibrations, your home does not block the continuous buzzing 24 hour low frequency buzz. You go to bed, your sleep is disturbed, you sit on your patio and the annoying sound is always there. • Mental health impacts: Constant noise and no relief, disrupted sleep, higher cost of living, possible job loss, where does this end? • Real estate values decline in neighborhoods impacted by the data centers up to 3-5 miles away. Economics: The laws of supply and demand you must not ignore. Data centers tax the electrical grids to the fullest extent, billions of gallons of water and heated waste used and discharged into your community. You will pay the costs, double, maybe more, and do not be fooled. Only uninformed citizens think the laws protect. The laws work when you become involved, you must be loud and vocal, show up at community meetings. The Ohio Chamber of Commerce has expressed concern, on December 17, 2025 at the public EPA hearing in Columbus, that they are moving too fast without sufficient review. I agree.
