Local gymnasts qualify for regional competition

NILES — The American Prestige Athletics gymnastics team competed at the USAG EXCEL Ohio State Championships March 29-31, hosted by the Olympic Dream Academy at the Niles Wellness Center.The competition doubles as the Region 5 Championships qualifier. Region 5 consists of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky, and the Region 5 Championships will be held May 3-5 in Lexington, Kentucky.All of American Prestige Athletics' Silver and Gold level athletes qualified for the regional and will represent Team Ohio.From the Gold team, Avery McIntyre finished second on the asymmetric bars and sixth all-around. Also from the Gold team, Alanna Porcari finished fourth on asymmetric bars, second on balance beam and sixth in all-around to qualify.From the Silver team, Adyson Lepley, Amiya Drury and Madison Boraski all qualified for the regional.Lepley finished fourth on vault and first in floor exercise, while Drury was third in vault and first on asymmetric bars. Boraski took second on asymmetric bars and sixth in all-around.Also competing from the American Pride Gymnastics Bronze team were Gabby Bohn, who finished ninth all-around, Gabi Carroll (16th all-around), Peyton Hineline (third balance beam) and Sophia Stieber (15th all-around).XCEL Gymnastics Silver and Gold team members, from left: Adyson Lepley, Amiya Drury, Alanna Porcari, Breonna Ponting, Madison Boraski and Avery McIntyre.
