Come to Christmas sing-along

SANDUSKY — First Presbyterian Church in Sandusky is providing a community-wide sing-along, taking place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday from its grounds, 265 Jackson St. "We want to offer a fun way for the whole family to prepare and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas," church pastor Richard Henderson said. Special guests for the sing-along will be accomplished organists Jaret and Emily Schroeder. The program will include: • Singing along with many favorite Christmas carols • Listening to solos and duets that the Schroeders will play on the organ • Receiving an opportunity to learn a little of the background and history of familiar carols. For some of the duets,the Schroeders will play four-hand, sitting side by side. The Schroeders are coming from Madison, Wisconsin, where they both serve university churches. Jaret is the principal organist at St Paul's Catholic Church where he oversees a large choral program. Emily serves as organist at Calvary Lutheran Church on the campus of the University of Wisconsin. They both enjoy working with college students and helping foster new church musicians and strong singing congregations. They are not just outstanding musicians; Emily earned a doctorate in organic chemistry, and Jaret is a molecular biologist. Bring the whole family and enjoy a fun afternoon of songs and celebration. This program is dedicated to, and in memory of, William "Bill" Kraus, who was the music director at First Presbyterian Church and a greatly admired musician, teacher and friend of many in the Sandusky community.
