Historic Lyme Village hosting holiday events

BELLEVUE — Historic Lyme Village — 5001 Ohio 4, Bellevue — welcomes people to attend one of two upcoming Christmas-themed events happening soon. Here's a preview with excerpts provided by the village. Note: Each event does require a cost. People can visit lymevillage.org to make a reservation and for more information. Event No. 1 — Christmas in the Village • When: 1-5 p.m. Sunday • What: Christmas in the Village is a wonderful time to visit all the decorated buildings, including the beautifully decorated John Wright Mansion. The children will have an opportunity to go to the Merry Schoolhouse to write a letter to Santa, then go to the post office to mail it and, finally, visit the mansion. There will be a surprise waiting. Treats will also be available in the open buildings and the Carriage House Cafe. Event No. 2 — Holiday Candle-lit Tours • When: 5:20-7 p.m. on Dec. 27 and Jan. 3; Tours start every 20 minutes within this time frame. • What: Step back in time to New Year's Eve, the year 1865, as you enjoy a quaint candle-lit guided tour of the village, wonderfully decorated for the holiday season. Hear stories from costumed interpreters of how Christmas and new year's were celebrated in the Firelands in the mid-19th century. Afterward, enjoy complimentary hot cider, hot chocolate and cookies in the Carriage House Cafe. Dress appropriately for this indoor/outdoor 90-minute walking tour.
