Sheriff's office announces sergeant's passing

NORWALK — The Huron County Sheriff's Office on Monday announced the passing of Sgt. William Hubbard. Described as "our friend and co-worker, a statement provides information on his commitment to public service: Sgt. Hubbard began his career with the Huron County Sheriff's Office on Feb. 9, 1998 — and, for more than two decades, he served as a correctional officer with dedication, professionalism and pride. Bill was a steady and trusted presence within the facility, someone others could count on during challenging moments and long days. He led by example, treated everyone with respect and cared deeply about the people he worked alongside. Bill had a quiet way of making things better simply by being there whether through guidance, reassurance or a moment of humor when it was needed most. His impact on this office and on our corrections family will not be forgotten. Beyond the job, Bill was a friend. His passing leaves a profound void in our workplace and in the lives of those who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sgt. Hubbard's family and loved ones during this difficult time.
