Santa Parade rescheduled for Sat.

SANDUSKY — Because of the snow and cold weather, Sandusky firefighters postponed the Santa parade, which was scheculed for Saturday, Dec. 13. The event, however, will still occur, now scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20. This year, it'll weave in and throughout northern portions of downtown Sandusky and ending at the home of Don Myers, 534 Meigs St. It's where he displays an illuminated outdoor train garden, known as Pop's Holiday Train Display, made up largely of K'NEX materials, which is free to view. The "Sandusky Fire Department will be driving Santa around town," said Sandusky fire Chief Mario D'Amico, noting Myers will play Santa. "It is a good way for the Sandusky Fire Department to connect with the children of Sandusky in a non-emergency setting and allows us to spread some Christmas joy in the process," D'Amico said. "Don is a wonderful giving man who enjoys spreading Christmas joy and connecting with his community." Here's the scheduled parade route: • It will begin at West Adams and Shelby streets. • It will continue down Adams Street up until Meigs Street, turning down East Jefferson Street. • It will continue down Jefferson Street up until West Adams Street, turning down West Madison Street. • It will continue down Madison Street before ending at 534 Meigs St. People can visit facebook.com/sanduskyfire for updates.
