Davidson, Normington-Slay named to all-region team

Two area boys soccer standouts were named to the 2025 All-Great Lakes Region team. Edison senior Alex Davidson and Perkins junior Titus Normington-Slay were named to the squad that was announced last week by United Soccer Coaches. The Great Lakes region includes the top players from Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Davidson was one of 57 midfielders honored. Normington-Slay was one of 66 forwards on the all-region team. Davidson is a two-time All-Ohio selection as well as a two-time SBC Most Outstanding Performer and two-time district Player of the Year. The senior scored a school-record 60 goals this season and added 28 assists in helping the Chargers to their best season in program history. He finished his career with 101 career goals. Edison finished with an unbeaten regular season, and 19-1-1 overall. The Chargers won their first-ever Division IV district championship and went 10-0-1 in the SBC to share the league title with Perkins after the two teams tied Sept. 29 in Milan. The regional honor came five days before Davison also earned All-Ohio third team honors in Division V as a kicker for the Edison football team. He was 32 for 32 on extra points and 6 for 7 on field goals in 11 games for the Chargers. Normington-Slay led Perkins with 41 goals while adding 15 assists. The Pirates finished 16-1-3, losing in a Division III district semifinal. "He has all the attributes you want in an elite athlete — he's tall, fast and strong," Perkins coach Paul Lea said. "He's a matchup nightmare for about every defender and has excellent technical skills." Normington-Slay came off the bench as a sophomore and was named Perkins' Most Improved Player this year. Normington-Slay, who plays for club soccer for the high-level Cleveland Force, was named to the Div. III All-Ohio team. "He can go left, go right. he's unpredictable," Lea said. "He's an absolute menace for other teams."
