The next generation of Ohio license plates?

PERKINS TWP. — A local nonprofit wants to boldly go on the road with its mission of community building and humanitarian outreach. The Federation, a "Star Trek"-themed service organization based out of the Sandusky Mall in Perkins Township, launched a petition to create a custom Ohio license plate celebrating its decades of charitable work and science fiction fandom. The plate would feature The Federation's logo, symbolizing unity and imagination. Funds raised through registrations would support humanitarian aid, youth programs and community events like SKYcon, which blends fandom with fundraising. "For over 40 years, The Federation has brought people together through creativity, compassion and collaboration," said Russ Haslage, leader and organizer of The Federation. "A federation license plate would not only celebrate our shared love of science fiction but also directly support humanitarian causes across Ohio." Ohio residents can sign the petition online or at upcoming federation events. Once enough signatures are collected, the proposal will be submitted to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles for review.
