Danbury Schools gets new treasurer

DANBURY — Danbury Schools recently announced the resignation of its treasurer. The outgoing treasurer, Shane Baumgardner, spent decades with the district before his resignation became effective this past week. Baumgardner's decades of treasurer service at the district came to an end on Nov. 20 when his resignation became effective. His ties to the district will continue as an administrator until the end of June 2026 while he provides transitional support within the treasurer's office. While in the treasurer position, Baumgardner provided leadership through the district's finances and construction projects, according to an announcement from the district of his resignation. He ensured fiscal stability and supported the district's mission of educational excellence. "The board of education extends its deepest appreciation to Shane for his years of service and leadership," said Mary Lou Rinaldo, the school board's president. "Under his direction, the district's financial foundation has remained strong and transparent, benefiting both students and the community." The district's assistant treasurer, Lynnette Gilbert, will take the treasurer position. With more than eight years of service in the treasurer's office, she has extensive experience in school finances and an understanding of district operations. "Lynnette has been an invaluable member of our financial team," Rinaldo said. "Our leadership team is confident that she will ensure a smooth transition and continue the district's tradition of sound financial management." The district also announced Gabrielle Maringer will take over Gilbert's assistant treasurer position.
