Man charged with sex crimes against children

HARRIS TWP. — An Ottawa County man is facing several sex crimes. Christopher J. Spaulding, 33, of South Harris Salem Road, has been charged with: • Two counts of gross sexual imposition, third-degree felonies • Possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony • Illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, a fifth-degree felony • Inducing panic, a first-degree misdemeanor. On Thursday, detectives from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office received a cyber tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, according to a sheriff's office media release. Detectives obtained a search warrant for a South Harris Salem Road home in Harris Township and searched the home, the release states. With evidence seized during the raid, deputies arrested Spaulding and booked him into the Ottawa County Detention Facility. As of late Friday, he is still incarcerated there under a more than $150,000 bond. His next court date is not listed in jail or court records. The Ottawa County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime division, as well as the Ohio Department of Public Safety assisted deputies.
