Pop out to pier's rink

SANDUSKY — On Friday, Sandusky's Civista Bank Ice Skating Rink on the Jackson Street Pier opened for the season. People can access the rink — 221 W. Shoreline Drive in downtown Sandusky —on the following days during the remainder of November and all of December: • 5-9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays • 2-9 p.m. on Saturdays • 2-7 p.m. on Sundays On holidays, the rink will have modified hours: • Closed on Thanksgiving • Noon to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve • Closed on Christmas • Noon to 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve • Closed on New Year's Day January hours will be announced at a later date. "Skating on the rink is free, and skate rentals are available for $5," according to a city statement. "The rink is made of Super-Glide synthetic ice, which provides a similar experience to skating on real ice." People can learn more by visiting cityofsandusky.com/icerink.
